Pota or the Adventures of a Sweet Potato

When we were at Papa and Nanny's months ago, Diane/Nanny gave Skylar a sweet potato and told her to put it in a jar of water to sprout and then plant it.

When we got home, Skylar drew a face on it and tried to write "potato" on it, but messed up and actually wrote "pota". It took us FOREVER to actually put the potato in a jar of water. In the meantime, this little baby-faced sweet potato hung around our house, moving to various locations at Skylar's whim. We grew kind of fond of the potato and started calling it "Pota". Pota lived in Skylar's bedroom for awhile before spending several weeks in the kitchen near the bread box.

Finally, we put Pota in water. Skylar wasn't keen on the idea of poking the sweet potato with toothpicks, but we had to. Before long, Pota had sprouted roots and even little "horns" which became vines.

Eventually, we moved Pota to a dirt-filled clay pot on the front porch where he resides quite happily now.

Here's Drake in his "mad scientist" glasses.
